IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM BYBL (BAT RULE)

Good Afternoon BYBL Families,

I hope this letter finds your families well and I'm looking forward to another successful season of BYBL. I have a couple of very important announcements to make.

First, I want to let you know that registration for Pinto - Pony (ages 7 -14) is now open so please get your child(ren) registered as soon as you are able. It is important that you meet our registration deadline dates so that we will be able to balance a team/coach ratio - meaning if there aren’t enough coaches, a late registrant may not be able to be placed on a team. The earlier we have everyone sign up the better prepared we will be.

Secondly, after feedback from parents, coaches, and players, the Board of Directors has decided to overturn the USA Bat rule that was implemented in spring 2018. For many reasons, we feel that these bats didn’t provide the kids with a better overall baseball experience. I reached out to PONY Baseball (PONY is the organization that BYBL conforms to and functions under) and spoke to the Vice President of the Northern Region. He informed me that all PONY rules and regulations are only strictly enforced for tournament play. As of now, BYBL does not participate in any district, regional or national tournaments. Therefore, we can adjust or alter any PONY rules and regulations as long as we don’t compromise the safety of the children.

BYBL will follow the guidelines of USSSA (www.usssa.com) and USA Baseball in regards to bat usage. As long as the bat is stamped with the following these bats will be legal for play in our BYBL In-house league:

USA Baseball
USSSA 1.15 BPF

Have a safe and wonderful Holiday Season and we will see you at evaluations in February.

Warm regards,
Chris Tamburrino
BYBL President
